March 2021 Garden Goals

I woke up a few days ago and realized - crap, it's almost spring! It's starting this month, and the big race to get the spring/summer garden together is upon us. Then I started taking a hard look around the garden and subsequent yard, and I'm thinking. Good lord, we've got a lot of work to do to get his place back into shape.

Garden Goals for 12/14/2020

Happy New moon and happy solar eclipse; we stayed inside yesterday as the first real rains of the seasons kicked in. Just in time for us to have finished the rain barrel project

Garden Goals for 12/7/2020

I think I touched on this in the last garden goals post; we're having a hard time balancing our daily life with the amount of daylight we have right now. This last week has been chaos at "work" I've been glued to my computer much more than usual. With Eddie's late nights and late mornings, we've been a little lax on our goals.

This year's garlic harvest! I am pleased 🥰💚
Sometimes I need a reminder that you must have patience and trust when gardening. I thought both of these berries were dead ☠️ last year. The raspberry (first pic) only had a few leaves and the dead stick in the middle all season long. The kiwi berry (second pic) looked like it died almost as soon as we brought it home, but it was the end of the season, and as Grey’s Anatomy taught me - “you’re not dead until you’re warm and dead” - so I let them overwinter and was so very surprised and pleased when we started seeing green leaves sprout up.
Slight eclectic first harvest of 2022 - we will definitely feast on the artichoke tonight! And the Anemones are starting to flower regularly.
The Camelias are in bloom and looking lovely aft the rain 🌧 yesterday.
We have been looking for creative ways to keep the birds out of our beds. They seem to like open spaces so we’ve been filling them in with mom’s decorations. What do you think?
Two minute garden tour - we hope you enjoy 💚
